RUTAN VARIEZE
Innovative construction, design and appearance, plus spectacular performance, made N7EZ (the very first VariEze) a sensation at the 1975 EAA Oshkosh Fly-In. That year, N7EZ also set a world closed-course distance record of 1,638 miles, flying for 13 hours eight minutes and 45 seconds on just 40 gallons of fuel. Designer Burt Rutan soon followed up with the larger Long-Ez, which set many world records. By late 1983, over 4,300 VariEzes and Long-EZ’s had been built or were under construction.
